The second annual Einstein Fellows reunion was held at the NSTA national conference in New Orleans. Twenty-seven former Fellows were in attendance.

Interviews for the 2009-2010 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship positions were held in Washington, D.C. on March 16 and 17, 2009.

The Fellows were the guests of honor at the annual Holiday gathering. Fellows, along with their supervisors, Triangle staff and DOE staff, gathered at an Arlington restaurant for an evening of food and celebration.

Several Fellows attended the Mole Day (October 23, 2007) American Chemical Society Reception. The reception was in conjunction with National Chemistry Week. Einstein Fellows had the opportunity to meet and listen to a lecture by Norm Augustine, the chairman of the committee that wrote Rising Above the Gathering Storm. Many of his education initiatives were aimed at teacher training, professional development, and greater incentives for recruitment and retention of teachers. At the Koshland Science Museum, Judy Reeves, Einstein Fellow at NOAA, tries on an arctic survival suit designed for immersion in polar water. Judy says, On the NOAA ships, they're called Gumby suits for obvious reasons!

Einstein Fellows visited the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse (ENC) in Columbus, Ohio. ENC's mission is to identify effective curriculum resources, create high-quality professional development materials, and disseminate useful information and products to improve K-12 mathematics and science teaching and learning. The Fellows toured the facility, met with staff, and learned the ins and outs of the valuable online education resources provided by ENC online.

Anna Mika, a Network of Educator Astronaut Teacher and lead teacher at an explorer school in Wisconsin, with Naveen Cunha, Einstein Fellow in NASA's Educator Astronaut Program, and John Henry, Einstein Fellow in NASA's Explorer School's Program at the National Middle School Association convention in Minneapolis.

Aaron Schuetz (Department of Energy) and Mark Klawiter (NSF, REC) reviewed the list of elements to be used for Passport Stamps at the What's Next Expo.

During a presentation at NSF, Carol Engelmann (NSF, ESIE) showed mapped
survey data from a community study that her students performed which gauged public support for a skate park in Elkhorn, NE. She additionally spoke about the urbanization study that her students performed using GIS data and satellite images.

At Goddard Space Flight Center, James Jeletic Science Operation Manager, gave a presentation on the Hubble and the James Webb Telescopes.

NASA Einstein fellow Letitia Hoaas experiences life in microgravity while flying aboard Johnson Space Center's KC135, the Weightless Wonder. Letitia flew with three teams of teachers from NASA Explorer Schools. The teachers were conducting experiments designed by their students.
